River Nile Cafe

River Nile Café, has been serving Dothan since 1997. We serve, made from scratch soups, and our much loved Sundried Tomato bread, for our soup, salad, sandwich, café. We also have created the brand Katie Bell‘s to market into other food service groups, including our very own homemade chicken salad, Roasted Red Pepper soup (and others) and our Sundried Tomato Bread. 

I started My business in 1997 out of my home… With small children around my feet. We were first a basket company, “The River Nile Baskets and Accessories” …that I set up like “Tupperware” Parties. After two years of this I opened my first storefront as a bakery “The River Nile Cookie Company” in 1999 at the Woodland Shopping Center. For one year I operated as a small cookie company delivering cookies around our area. In 2000, I moved my business to downtown Dothan to a building we restored and became a small café Seating about 30-40, (where KBC is now) River Nile Bakery & Eatery”.  We “thought” we outgrew that space and moved to a larger location in 2006 to Crepe Myrtle shopping Center on Montgomery Hwy… “River Nile Bistro”.  In 2007-2009ish the market crashed so we made the decision to close. We actually moved down the street to an older shopping center where Buddy’s Barber shop was also located, seating only 10, but mainly pick up orders called “River Nile ON THE Go”…But that did not last long, only about 6 months.  We reopened a year later, “River Nile Trading Company”, back downtown (where KBC is located) into our smaller 12 table location, opening up the courtyard also.  After three years, I was tired, my children were all getting ready to graduate, and head their separate ways, and I felt like I could not afford to help them. So at that time at the age of 40 I went back to college, and for the next five years I focused on my new career in the physical therapy field. About 8 years into that endeavor I really missed the restaurant business and started looking for a building. So after a couple years, found a building in 2018 and reopened our beloved café in 2019 at Windmill Station on Headland Ave. in Dothan…“River Nile Cafe”, where we served our customers again for 6 years. In 2022 we opened up our second location on the Westside of Dothan. Realizing my true love is serving others in this capacity.
