The Print Shop

The Print Shop, founded in 1839, is a family ran printing business in Marion, Alabama that is one of the first businesses among this small town. This business has a long and amazing history and is located in the heart of downtown Marion.
When The Print Shop was founded in 1839, it was known as Marion Publishing.  
Lloyd Thurber bought the business in 1987.
On August 1, 2001, Lloyd Thurber sold the business to his daughter-in-law, Heather Thurber, who had been employed there since 1995. Heather renamed the business, The Print Shop to better fit the services we provide. Heather’s husband, Paul, built a nursery at the shop and their four children were raised at the shop, learning tasks at a very young age.
In May 2021, Heather's daughter Melissa joined our business full time. Since then, she has expanded the business to include embroidery services, direct-to-garment printing, and a large assortment of personalized products.
Due to The Print Shop being family owned and operated the number of employees is low. However, we take pride in developing a close relationship with each customer.
The Print Shop continues to print today after 181 years of running. This shop is the only one of its kind in Perry County and each of the bordering counties; therefore, many individuals and businesses rely on The Print Shop for various tasks. It has earned its reputation in central Alabama. The history is rich, the business is well, and the connection to the community is always helpful for the small town business it is.
