Backpacks, Binders & A Mission to Serve All

You know the quintessential back-to-school feeling—fresh notebooks, sharp pencils, maybe even a new outfit and new shoes with a fresh store smell? Sadly, not every Alabama student experiences the same clean-slate emotions.

Grace Klein Community, Inc. is giving an opportunity for more children to have those "I am important" moments! The 2025 Back-to-School Supply Drive is already underway, collecting the essentials, such as binders, calculators (fx-300Es or 4-function), new clothes and shoes (any size!), plus more to ensure every child they serve ventures into the school year with confidence.

You can drop off supplies at their Bessemer location, donate online, or jump in to help pack and distribute backpacks now through July 26. Remember—each donation fuels a future! Every backpack filled means one more child walks tall into a new classroom. As volunteers and donors are learning, “Not all heroes wear capes—some sort crayons!”

"Education is a key indicator to alleviating poverty, which explains why sharing food boxes and school supplies go hand-in-hand at Grace Klein Community. When children have access to healthy food, cognitive skills improve, they learn to read, comprehension expands, and the entire world opens to them. Together we contribute to a global solution,” says Jenny Waltman, Founder of Grace Klein Community Inc.

The "do more" extravagant support is second nature for Grace Klein Community Inc. From diapers and food boxes to sustainability field trips and a give-and-take room stocked with everyday essentials, their work offers holistic care. They also partner with ministries around the world— Zambia, India, South Africa, Lesotho, Ivory Coast, Ukraine, and Swaziland—they are committed to support children, equip leaders, and help communities thrive.

The heart behind Grace Klein Community never changes! Their upcoming FeedBHM expansion into Pelham is a crazy faith next step, transforming communal space into something far more: a place where rescued food will be reallocated or repurposed, serve teams gather, and real friendships happen around coffee, flowers, and shared purpose.

Their commitment to relationship over recognition is exactly why Grace Klein Community Inc. earned a 2025 Best of Alabama Award. “Love. Serve. Share. Repeat” is how they move through the world. Their 2025 theme teaches a powerful concept: "It's Not About Us" and it’s not about them. It’s about everyone showing up, again and again, with the love of Jesus and creating spaces where we can all contribute from our talents, time, and treasure to make the world a better place to work and live.
