Finders Keepers in McCalla

There’s shopping... and then there’s treasure hunting. The kind that starts with a walk through the woods and ends with a wrought-iron skillet, a jar of pepper jelly, and a story about a blacksmith you just met.

Welcome to Tannehill Trade Days, where no two booths—or weekends—are ever the same. Held monthly at Tannehill Ironworks State Park in McCalla, this long-running Alabama tradition is part flea market, part front-porch hangout, and all about the thrill of the unexpected. The next trade day is happening June 21-22, so start saving your money (and precious time)!

Part Market, Part Time Machine

Hidden among 19th-century furnace stacks and shaded pines, the park feels like it’s holding secrets—and hundreds of vendors are happy to help you uncover them! Some come for the antiques. Others… Well, they just follow the smell of kettle corn and see where the day goes!

You’ll find…

  • Cast iron cookware and vintage tools built to outlast you!
  • Handmade quilts, soaps, candles, jams, and yard art.
  • Furniture, costume jewelry, comic books, and collectibles!
  • The kind of fried pie that makes you forget what you came for…

It’s the ultimate Alabama mix of old and new, curated and quirky. No shopping mall playlist, no algorithm recommendations—just good finds and better people-watching.

History, Hospitality, and a Whole Lot of Charm

Even without the market, Tannehill Ironworks is worth the trip. Once a major supplier of iron during the Civil War, the park now spans 1,500 acres of trails, creeks, cabins, and museums. During Trade Days, artisans open their workshop doors, offering blacksmith demos, woodcarving, and good conversation on cabin porches.

Need a break from browsing? Ride the miniature train, dip your toes in Roupes Creekor grab a seat in the shade with a paper plate of something hot and fried. Planning to make a weekend of it? The campground fills up fast with regulars who know to book early and bring extra folding chairs.

Because here, the best deals aren’t always found—they’re made with a little patience, a little curiosity, and a walk through the trees.
