Giving Help, Giving Hope: Supporting Cancer Patients Every Step of the Way
For cancer patients across Central Alabama, the journey to recovery can be filled with overwhelming challenges—medical, emotional, and financial. Since 1997, the Cancer Wellness Foundation of Central Alabama (CWF) has been a beacon of hope, offering compassionate, personalized support when it’s needed most.
Unlike national organizations, CWF is rooted in the local community and focuses on what happens after a diagnosis. The Foundation bridges the gap between treatment and access to care, ensuring no patient walks this path alone. Their mission is simple but powerful: Giving Help, Giving Hope.
CWF serves patients who are under the care of physicians at the Montgomery Cancer Center and MCC Prattville Clinic, working closely with these clinics to identify and assist those in need—particularly individuals who are uninsured, underinsured, or waiting on benefit approvals. Their team—consisting of a Patient Advocate, Transportation Coordinator, Program Assistant, Executive Director, and Executive Assistant—ensures every patient receives hands-on, heart-forward support
CWF provides critical services tailored to individual needs, including transportation to and from appointments, medication assistance, nutritional supplements like Boost and Ensure, and essential medical supplies such as lymphedema compression garments and comfort care items. The Foundation also offers wigs and personal hygiene products to help patients maintain a sense of dignity and confidence during a difficult time.
This hands-on, heart-forward approach recently earned CWF the 2025 Best of Alabama Regional Award, recognizing their unwavering dedication to patients in need. Through every mile driven, prescription filled, and obstacle overcome, CWF stands by its commitment to making the cancer journey a little easier—and a lot more hopeful.
