It's 5 O'Clock in Mobile!
Mobile knows how to throw a party, but this one’s got a special twist. Son of a Sailor Fest is back on Saturday, September 20, bringing the music, color, and spirit of Jimmy Buffett right into the heart of downtown.
This isn’t just another concert—it’s an all-day experience built around Jimmy Buffett’s signature songs, stories, and coastal lifestyle. From live music to colorful costumes to a few surprises along the way, the festival captures the fun and community spirit of Mobile. It’s free, family-friendly, and the kind of celebration that can only happen on the Gulf Coast.
The celebration begins with a brass-filled second-line parade through downtown’s historic streets. It’s a lively kickoff that captures Mobile’s personality and gets the crowd moving before the music even starts.
From there, the live lineup keeps the tunes coming all day long, and the setlist is stacked with names Buffett fans know and love. Expect sets from Keith Sykes, Roger Bartlett, Jim Mayer, and Will Kimbrough—musicians who’ve shared the stage with Jimmy himself! Add in top-notch tribute acts like Jammy Buffett and A1A, and you’ve got a soundtrack that blends nostalgia with pure Gulf Coast energy.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Buffett-style fest without the outfits. Festival-goers are encouraged to show up in their brightest Hawaiian shirts or go all-in with creative Jimmy-inspired costumes. Costume contests throughout the day keep the energy playful, and kids can get in on the fun too. It’s truly a festival for every age.
Want to upgrade your day? The VIP Experience offers shaded lounges, catered Gulf Coast bites, and exclusive access to a preview of the new Jimmy Buffett Experience exhibit. Even better, proceeds from VIP sales support marine research and education at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab Foundation—so you can party with a purpose.
At its heart, Son of a Sailor Fest is more than a tribute concert. It’s a gathering that celebrates Buffett’s legacy, the laid-back joy of coastal Alabama, and the community spirit that makes Mobile shine!
