Mobile Bay & The Gulf Coast

Follow the Gulf breeze south, and you’ll find Mobile Bay, where history, industry, and coastal culture come together in a way that’s uniquely Alabama. Mobile, the state’s oldest city, wears its heritage proudly, from its iron-laced balconies to its sprawling live oaks. It’s also where Mardi Gras first took hold in America, with mystic societies parading through the streets long before New Orleans ever caught on.

But there’s more to this port city than tradition, because it’s a hub of commerce. The Port of Mobile is one of the nation’s busiest, moving goods from around the world and supporting one in seven Alabama jobs. Just beyond the docks, Airbus’s Mobile facility is helping turn the region into an aerospace hub, rolling out hundreds of jetliners while expanding its production footprint.

Cross the bay, and you’ll land in Baldwin County, where the pace slows but the momentum doesn’t. The Eastern Shore communities of Fairhope and Daphne mix small-town charm with modern growth. Fairhope’s historic downtown is lined with independent boutiques and bayfront cafés, while Daphne’s legendary jubilees make it the only place where fish, crabs, and shrimp literally jump onto the shore.

Keep heading south, and the salty breeze of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach welcomes you with 32 miles of sugar-white sand. Local seafood markets and beachfront restaurants keep the catch coming, while events like the Hangout Music Festival bring in national acts and even bigger crowds. And the coastline isn’t just about tourism—it’s also home to Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge, where conservation efforts protect 7,000 acres of coastal habitat.

Alabama’s coast proves that business and leisure aren’t just connected—they’re inseparable. Here, progress flows as steadily as the tides—where cargo ships glide into port, pelicans soar over the bay, and the Gulf breeze carries the promise of something new on the horizon.
