Mobile's Mardi Gras Mania!

Mobile's Mardi Gras Mania!

Mobile doesn’t roll out Mardi Gras…it lives it. Long before other cities joined the party, this port town was already tossing beads and perfecting parade routes. From Saturday, February 14 through Fat Tuesday, February 17, Mobile leans all the way into its claim as America’s Mardi Gras birthplace with a packed schedule of parades and celebrations. Streets buzz, porches fill up, and downtown feels like one big family reunion.

There’s more to the weekend than floats and throws. Walking through the historic districts, you’ll catch brass bands tuning up in side streets, friends gathered around coffee and king cakes, and costumed riders waving from balconies. Small parks and squares turn into pop-up stages for local performers, and the scent of Cajun and Creole food drifts through the air. Parade routes and downtown spaces are designed so everyone can join in the fun, with accessible seating and paths that make it easier for visitors with mobility needs to see the action.

A Weekend That Celebrates Tradition

Some of the parades and events to catch include:

  • Mystics of Time, 5:45 p.m.

Fat Tuesday, the Mobile Way

On Tuesday, February 17, the celebration reaches its peak. The Order of Athena Parade at 10:30 a.m. starts the day, followed by Knights of Revelry at 12:30 p.m., King Felix III at 1 p.m., Comic Cowboys at 1:30 p.m., and MAMGA Mammoth Parade at 2 p.m. The day ends with the Order of Myths Parade at 6 p.m., a downtown procession that has been a centerpiece of Mobile Mardi Gras for generations.

By the time the final beads have flown and the last brass note fades, the city has transformed. Historic streets, jubilant squares, and the energy of centuries-old tradition leave a mark you can feel for days. Mobile’s Mardi Gras isn’t just a party; it’s a living, breathing celebration of the city itself: a weekend that proves why this place will always be the heart of Carnival in America.
