Sugar Rush, Guaranteed!

Arab City Park is getting a little sweeter this Labor Day weekend! SugarFest returns Saturday, September 5, with a full day of food, handmade finds, family activities, and a 5K for anyone willing to earn dessert first.

The free annual festival takes its cue from the South’s devotion to sweet tea, but the day has grown well beyond its sugary inspiration. SugarFest brings local makers, specialty vendors, food trucks, and families together at Arab City Park for one of those Saturdays where everyone can find their own reason to stick around.

Shop, Snack, Repeat

For shoppers, the festival offers a chance to browse handmade crafts and goods from local artisans and specialty vendors without turning the day into a marathon of storefronts. Food trucks keep lunch conveniently close, which is particularly useful when half the family wants to keep shopping and the other half has already started asking what’s for lunch.

Kids get their own share of the action with inflatables, a rock climbing wall, splash pad, and DJ. Families trying to coordinate the day can check the SugarFest park map ahead of time and get a better sense of where everything is located.

That mix matters. SugarFest gives small makers and vendors a busy community showcase while giving families a free event that doesn’t require committing to one activity for the entire day. Organizers also donate a portion of event proceeds back to the local community, keeping some of the festival’s impact close to home.

Run Before the Sugar Rush

For those who prefer to start Saturday at a faster pace, the SugarRush 5K adds a morning run to the festivities. Afterward, runners can trade the race route for the considerably easier task of deciding what to eat.

One familiar SugarFest tradition will be missing this year. Fireworks are taking a break for 2026, so there’s no need to plan the day around an evening show. Instead, the focus stays on the park, the vendors, the food, and the activities happening throughout the festival.

With free admission and plenty happening in one place, SugarFest offers Arab a holiday-weekend gathering built around the people making, cooking, running, and showing up for their community.
